2007fordranger 4x4 4.0 v6 automatic 1st serpentine belt broke. I noticed that the harmonic balance needed replaced and I did. I tried to start but battery was dead. I replaced with a different battery. It started an ran for 20 minutes, i turned it off. A few minutes later drove to gas station filled with gas.tried to start no start like dead battery. I got another hot battery replaced when trying to start dead short.I replaced starter. Now turn key starter sounds like it engaging but no crank. It's been a long frustrating 3 days

welcome to the forum!

does the starter sound like its free wheeling or is there a grinding noise?

Your issue sounds like it could be a few things, a miss-wired starter, a faulty starter, the starter could be misaligned, or the flexplate could have stripped teeth.. if you have the ability to post pictures of the starter that could help diagnose them a little.

i would consider removing the starter and bench testing it (you can do it at home with jumper cables, or take it to most auto part stores) to make sure the shuttle is engaging. while its removed i would inspect the flexplate/flywheel for damaged teeth
