Hello, I have a 2006 that I swapped a 4.0 into and got everything situated it seems. I have a 4.0 ECU and all that. But I'm not getting any spark. New coil, plugs, and wires. I've checked for any CELs and nothing shows, checked fuse 44, it's good. Also, I've done the old "screwdriver in a plug wire" to see of it gets spark and nothing. It should have a new CPS as I've replaced it, and a shop, supposedly has replaced it.
Any ideas?

Well, after looking around some, I can rule out the CPS. Tach moves when cranking.

Would using a remote starter switch, ie the ones you hook up to the starter to bypass a bad ignition switch cause the problem? I do have the key set to "on"

4.0 swap in an 06. What about the anti-theft? Was it PATS that year?

The truck doesn't have PATs, the fuel injectors work. Whenever I crank I can smell the fuel shooting out the exhaust.

I currently have the passenger manifold off as I was dealing with an oil leak and haven't put it back on yet

Edit: IIRC, PATs only kills power to the injectors

Doing more testing and probing I found that I am not getting power to the coil pack. The ECU gets power, and going of thr Haynes manual, they're both powered by the same wire.
Any ideas?
Because I'm about to just splice a wire and stuff it under a fuse to call it a day

Sounds like a plan to me.

Factory what ever that is.
If the coil is not getting power and you know it and the ECU share a power source, I'd track it down to where it splits and check that joint before I would slice wires myself.
There's no sense in doing anything that could cause more problems down the road.

Whatever you do I'm sure you don't want to somewhat fix just to run into more problems later.

Good luck Dude55.

Eh, the main issue with it all. Is the harness is crammed against the firewall, it's too cold and TBH I have been banging my head against the wall with this for so long as the truck originally had a 2.3L in it. So there's probably going to be some more electrical issues? I hope not as all the things that NEED power seem to get them. IE PCM/ECU, fuel injectors, crank sensor, radio, lights, heck even the horn all get power.
Just small-ish things are the problems, like the coil pack, the starter, and low wipers (they only work on the high setting now for some reason)

Something I plan on doing once I get it running is create a thread talking about all the issues/things I've dealt with in case someone down the line wants to do this for some reason.

B: When I do try to save up money, life comes in and just, takes that money....
C: Why not do a V8? Simple, Best In the Desert Class 7200 rules. I wish I could do a v8.....a 351W would've been so much easier

I agree with all of that except for the Windsor part. I think the Cleveland is way better. And would fit better too I think.

So I'm new to all these new things on vehicles. If you've read my thread/forum pages you already know, "but Incase you haven't" I did 20 years in prison. I just got out in June. I.E. the name I use.

Anyways.
Does your truck have an ignition control module / ICM, EDIS-6?
If so you might want to check that Out.

Fair, but you get what I mean xD

Nah, that's all good, just been a struggle with this for a few years due to work getting in the way. Congrats on getting out finally
From what I can tell, it doesn't. The manual just shows a hot wire that goes into the coil pack, then splits off going to the PCM for it to tell when to send the spark it seems.

I have a 94 with a 4.0L in it. I too was having a no spark issue with it.
It turned out to just be a blown fuse believe it or not. I worked on it for about 3 weeks just to figure out I'm an idiot for not checking out the fuses to start with.
Anyways while I was posting and getting help in my thread/forum pages from other guys "Curious Hound" told me about a book titled:
Electrical and vacuum troubleshooting manual.
Or EVTM for short.
I don't know how many years or for what all years they made them. However maybe if you look into it they might have made one for your year as well.

It can't hurt to do some research. If I was going to look for one, I'd look for one for the year truck you got your 4.0L out of.
I don't know a lot.
But I can tell you that using this forum to get help, sure did help me a lot.

Once again good luck.

While it was running I had to give it some throttle by hand to keep it running and I probably should've stopped after like 10 seconds and just let it stall out rather then trying to keep it running for a while. But in my excitement, I didn't....and this is the price I paid for that it seems.....I'm not sure what would've caused it to run, then just not, it had oil, and oil pressure especially with the milkshake that poured out. I'm just, heart broken, sick, and honestly trying not to cry as I've spent years rebuilding that engine, doing everything to spec and properly, fighting it the whole way. Just for that to happen.....
I, I want to take the seats out of it, scrap the blasted thing and just go into debt buying the Ranger I wanted this to be, or maybe, and I mean maybe, just buy a short block from someone and swap all the parts over. I'll be moving to Indiana around the new year if someone has a block for a decent price
It has new, just about everything, bearings, piston rings, heads, timing system, gaskets, sensors, etc......

Added the vid of when it seized

And one where it was running before it seized on me

I'm truly sorry to see that Dude.

I hope whatever you decide to do next works out better.

As for me I like to buy perfectly running wrecked vehicles to get Motors out of. Or transmissions for that matter as well.
They've already proven themselves.

Why rebuild something when you can get something that's already proved itself.

If something needs rebuilt there's a reason.

And for me I'm a believer that rebuilding something is a big risk.
Just the tinyest little mistake and all the money is wasted.

As I already said,
I wish you luck on the next go around.
