2005 Ford Rangers NO PATS

My thinking was all V6 Rangers 1999 - 2011 had PATS, period,
And 2001 - 2011 2.3l Duratec Rangers had it as well
2005 Rangers didn't, doesn't even say optional say deleted, couldn't find a 2005 Brochure to see if it was optional
2006 2.3l didn't have PATS either, 2006 V6 models do have it

So 2005 was skipped, wonder why?

I know for a fact that I have programmed keys for those years of Ranger.

my 2005 2.3 has the "S" on the key. never tried it with a different key though.

edit, verified no PATS today.

Yes, it seems I see the same thing at other PATS service sites, goes to 2004 then skips 2005, and 2006 PATS is back again

Yes, you can get and use a PATS key for 2005 Ranger you just don't need to

I just looked in the 05 owners manual in this site and it says they have PATS. If the aftermarket doesn't know the vehicle has PATS it just means they don't know.

Had 2 2005's, neither one had PAT's. Standard hardware key worked.

Just looked at Rord Ranger Forum and member Rwenzing address this way back in 9-23-09. Said "
Ford "thrifted" PATS for the 2005 model year, then it returned on V6 models for 2006 and then on all Rangers from 2007 on. They must have received some complaints.
Your truck has a key that looks like a PATS key and there is a Theft light in the cluster but your 2005 does not have PATS."

verified today. my 2005 2.3 key doesn't have a chip, standard hardware key started the engine.
