2004 FX4. #2 injector threw a code. Rockauto, store catalogs etc show 2 possible model/part numbers eith different body # stampings based on production date.
Pre dec 2003:
CM5079
4L2E-G5A

Dec 2003 on
CM5109
4L5E-B5A

Anyone have any idea why the change? Esp frustrating when some local stores lean heavily on rebuilt parts and their book doesnt differentiate

4L5E is a Ranger part number

4L2E is an Explorer part number

4 = 2004
L5 = Ranger
L2 = Explorer
E = Engine Engineering Department

I would expect they are interchangeable since both model vehicles used the same 4.0l SOHC engine in 2004

4.0l SOHC was originally only used in Explorers, 1997 and up
So the base model injector, "4L2E-G5A" may have been used since then even in Rangers starting in 2001
But Ford gave Rangers their own part number in 2003/4 model year
