Long version: I got a 4.0 ford ranger i wanna put a 5.0 in, i already got a guide on how to do it printed off, what the guide doesn't say is how to hook up the speedometer to get it to work, its got a 8.8 rear end in it and the speed sensor is a oss and the 1999-2001 explorer/mountaineer is vrr or abs, i have the entire donor car ready to begin the swap and i seen where i can a 2001 ford ranger 2.3 gem module but it neglectes to say how to wire it if i need to change rear ends for the sensor in the housing or if its already there and do i need to leave the ranger 4wabs or use the explorer 4wabs and i also had another idea of removing the 4r70w transmission and using the 4r75w transmission because of the oss speed sensor and use the 4.0 ranger computer for the speedometer along side the 5.0 for everything else but then i read somewhere that wouldn't be a good idea because the 5.0 computer wouldn't see the speed sensor signal so it would the codes and not shift so i thought maybe i could t it into the 5.0 computer so it can see the speed and it shows me the speed and its still accurate for the car.
Short version: whats the proper way to hookup a 1999-2001 ford explorer/mountaineer speedometer in a 2004 ford ranger 4.0
