Why should I pay someone else to screw it up when I can screw it up myself for free?
I looked in the the Tech Library but it only covered to 2000. Mine won't shift into 4Hi or Lo. The 4x4 light comes on and goes off at startup. Both shift motor and Control Module were replaced and everything was fine for 3 years. In that time I would exercise the 4WD switch periodically but never needed 4WD for more than a minute or 2. Fuses checked at both side panel and main fuse box and they are good I can't hear the motor click either. It started when I had to back up into my sloped gravel driveway and I used 4Hi. It would not shift back to 2Hi and I ended driving it for about a mile on dry pavement. I have the old shift motor and it was working at the time. Is there a test procedure I can use to trouble shoot the module? I should add that getting under the truck is nearly impossible for me now due serious vertigo issues, Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Can you jack up the back end of the truck so both wheels are off the ground? If you can, then try to shift it out of 4x4. It's just like a manual transfer case, if the driveline gets in a bind, it won't come out of 4x4 no matter how hard you pull on the lever. The motor is the same way and can't get the transfer case to shift if it's in a bind.

I think our crazy heat here unstuck the shift motor. Everything is working fine now for some reason. I took it to a car wash but I doubt that it had anything to do with it. I was holding off on selling it until I got it fixed so now I listed it on CL 3 hours ago. Lots of interest, lots of scammers.
