Had one on my 4 wheeler when I was 12 ....

I Certainly LOVE my 2004 4.0 Ranger after 20 years of a 1990 2.9 Ranger ...
the Issue is that at Exactly 90 mph, engine turns into a Dead & Dying Frog, must be some Computer thing which I know NOTHING about.
Any Simple Answers on how to turn OFF?
(not that I wanna go Over 90, I just want to KNOW what's Going On) THX

Last I read it was 100mph, and it's usually set for tires, most are not rated for above 100mph
Speed limiter not RPM limiter

I did read a few post that it can be 90mph speed limiter on Rangers

Check actual speed with GPS just to see if speedometer is accurate
2004 Computer uses OSS sensor on trans for speed, if you have different size tires it may "think" you are at 100mph when at 90mph

You can change Speed Limiter with Ford software, maybe Forscan can do it, have a look on their forum

REV limiter should only be active in Park or Neutral, or under 5mph, its 3,000rpm

You can purchase a Diablo tuner. Removing the speed limiter and raising Rev limiter is are options. I run 4:89 gears I used it to get my speed back in line. On my 2WD Ranger I did a top speed run and lost courage and lifted at 126MPH. At least that's what my GPS recorded.

I've hit the rev limit of about 5,000 rpm with a 4.0l in an old ranger. I think there is a vid of it hitting the limiter in my moderator profile.
