2002 Ranger Edge 3.0l V6 Correct name and location for O2 sensors

2002 Ranger Edge with the 3.0l V6. I know it has 3 (only) O2 sensors. My ScanTool app calls out: Short term Trim Bank 1.... Is that the O2 sensor mounted BY the driver side exhaust near the engine? Short Term Trim Bank 2......Is that the O2 sensor mounted BY sensor mounted BY the Passenger side exhaust near the engine? Long term Trim Bank 1 is that the O2 sensor mounted by the Converter?

I take it there is NOT a Long term Bank 2 O2 sensor?

O2 sensors on Rangers
Bank 1 is passenger side(right) on a V6 engine(4cyl engines only have Bank 1)
Bank 2 is drivers side(left)

Sensor 1 is Upstream, closest to the engine, on either side

i.e. S1B1 or B1S1 is O2 sensor on passenger side closest to the engine
B2S1 would be drivers side closest to the engine

Sensor 2 is Downstream
B1S2 would be passenger side on or behind the Cat Converter
(some engines have B2S2, dual exhuast)

O2 sensors are the ONLY sensors that wear out
12 years or 100k miles

And they go Lean as they age, so costs you $$$ in poor MPG, by the time they set a code you could have bought 4 of them in wasted fuel money, plus fouled spark plugs and carbon build up from running TOO RICH
So change them "on time", its FREE in the fuel $$$ you will save

Fellows. Thank you. I set up the ScanTool app per your explanation.
I installed new MotorCraft units (3ea) at .........

I started thinking when I installed new sensors and went back thru my maintenance log book (carry over from being an Aircraft mech) that I've had for the Truck since it was new...... No entry for a change out.....

UM..... went thru the receipts I keep for major work/parts I've got for the Truck since it was new..... None to be found......

Found the Log Book entry and receipts for my wife's '02 S/T O2 sensor(s) change out....

Um....looks like I'll be changing out the O2 sensors on my '02 Ranger.

I used the ScanTool app today when I made a 120 mile R/T and monitored the 3 O2 Sensors (live). All 3 were registering on both the gauges the app has as well as a Strip/Graph the app has. The Gauge I understand. The Strip/Graph.... not so much although I saved it (Strip/Graph) to my Laptop HD.

I was wondering if the O2 sensors would indicate "something" amiss as the truck has a #6 cylinder misfire.

This is a follow up to the #6 cylinder misfire my MIL light indicated and that I've posted about previously.

First off, I don't drive the truck much and it may be many, many days before I do get it out.

I had cleared the Code (Light) awhile back. After some time ( 100 miles or so) the light came back on. I didn't have my ScanTool app up and running so I left all alone. Don't recall how many miles I drove (or days) the truck BUT...this past Sunday we took it to Church (50 mile R/T) and when I started it up to leave the house.... NO LIGHT.

This morning before leaving on my 120 mile R/T I used my ScanTool to scan the Truck and sure enough the P0306 code came up on the app. showing that I had driven 118 miles since the code had set.

I cleared the code.

Made the 120 mile R/T and when I got home... NO LIGHT... BUT I could tell there is a miss. Did the "lighter test" (again) and just as RonD has mentioned... the flame being sucked into the tail pipe shows that a exhaust valve is leaking.

Being that the engine was well warmed up, I again performed another check RonD mentioned. I pulled the oil dipstick out. Put my thumb over the tube. Nothing blowing out. Nothing sucking in. Being that this is a one man show I couldn't rev up the engine while checking the tube for suction or blow. SO... I stuffed my vacuum gauge rubber hose (with the gauge attached of course) into the tube TIGHTLY and then I could get into the cab and rev up the engine.

No indication of anything. BUT.... I did get a CEL......

Using the ScanTOOL app I found a....P0306 code.... #6 cylinder misfire.

Long story I know and RonD I know your shaking your head saying... pull the head dumby brother... but..... I would think I should be getting some other information from some sensor telling me I've got a valve issue.

Thing is...the truck drives on the highway like a million bucks. I drive like the Grandpa I am but the acceleration seems just fine to me. Goes up and down hills just fine. No bucking, jerking, starts right up. Fuel mileage is 20ish.

Any thoughts? Yeah RonD... I know... pull the heads dumby brother.....
