I need to have the front seat belt retractors and belts refurbished in my 2002 4-door Ranger XLT. These belts are mounted inside the rear doors behind the plastic door liners. Any idea as to how to remove these door liners without destroying them? Removal is not obvious to me.

I need to fix my rear lower door latch and was wondering the same thing... I'm guessing unbolt the seatbelts and the plastic pops off?? If no one knows I guess I'll try it on my parts truck first and see what happens.

Thanks Otis413. Exactly what I needed to know.

Now, does anyone know which trim panel retainer to buy and where?

Replaced the front driver and passenger seat belt assemblies in my 2002 Ranger XLT 4-door extended cab today. Since I need this truck as a daily driver, I bought a set of junk yard seat belt assemblies and had them rebuilt by Safety Restore. I also bought a bag of trim panel retainers in case a ruined the originals (which I did).

All went extremely well following the youtube procedure:
https://www.1aauto.com/how-to-remove-reinstall-rear-door-panel-ford-ranger-extended-cab/video/10713

I used these trim panel retainers:

What pleasure not having a seat belt hanging out in the way when swinging a door closed.

Now, if any wish to try this, I will post my original seat belt assemblies in the for sale section. The webbing may be ok but the retractors definitely need to be rebuilt.
