Moderators: wasn't sure where this falls, because , the Edge is a 2wd frame with no front drivetrain, and the Expo is AWD. Please move if needed.

Simply looking at the front suspension parts, they look to be similar, if not, the same.
The Ranger came with the Edge package and a 3.0
The Explorer is an XLT AWD v8.
What are, OR where can I find, the differences in the front suspension components.
Looking for specs, part #'s. or cross referenced spread sheets if anybody has this info or where I can find it, please point me in the right direction.

There shouldn't be much of any difference in the 4wd components. The V8 explorer just got an AWD transfer case instead of the unit put behind the V6 Explorers. Same front axle components though.

You can convert the Explorer to a part time 4wd system by swapping in the appropriate transfer case and drive shafts. There's a long thread at explorer forum about it.

one trick I use is to look up the part on NAPA then scroll down to buyers guide. that will show all other vehicles using that same part.

when using Ford part # pay attention to the last 2 letters. AA BA etc, as they denote different parts/revisions.

Car-Parts, when you look up a part it also lists compatible model sources.

I'm referring to the Suspension parts only. NOT drivetrain related.

EDIT: i saw in the original post that I labeled the EDGE as a 4wd, that was incorrect, and has been fixed.

Reason for me asking is this : The Explorer I have, has a front suspension that some new parts and bushings. My Ranger's front end needs some attention. Can I swap/interchange the good parts from the Expo to the Edge, for an upgrade, or would I just be swapping the same parts over. ex. torsion bars ? same for the 3.0 Ranger as the 5.0 Expo? Shocks? tie rods, and control arms, all look fairly new compared to the rest of the under carriage, which is pretty rusted, which kind of explains the new parts,

anybody gat a part # for the Sway bar or Torsion bar for either Ranger OR Explorer. Those don't seem to be on RockAuto or Carparts

Probably the same #, most parts seem to be the same when I cross reference on RA.

There are multiple torsion bar options used in Rangers/Explorers. IIRC, you can get the info off the door tag to determine which spring ratings were used in that vehicle.

thanks, I guess I'll be looking at stickers. Hoping some one had part #'s. When I look up Torsion bar or Torsion spring in the Suspension sections of both RA and CP, i get 0 results for my search.

As I recall, the torsion bars were basically a Ford only item after a while (and maybe discontinued by them). You could lock them up through the Ford parts system. I think the various springs were given designations to indicate their ratings.

Assuming the codes are the same between Ranger and Explorer (no guarantee but seems likely), they range from 1 to H, where 1 is the strongest torsion bar and H is the weakest. This was in one post I found:
Front Torsion Bar Codes
1 F67A-5b326-FA (RH) F67A-5B327-FA (LH)
B F57A-5B326-BC (RH) F57A-5B327-BC (LH)
F F57A-5B326-FC (RH) F57A-5B327-FC (LH)

This might also be useful (from Explorer Forum):
98+ Rangers may have coil spring or torsion bar front suspension. The ones with torsion bars are interchangeable with 95~2001 Explorer.

Most torsion bar Rangers use 1, B or F. The spring code is on the manufacturer's certification sticker on the drive door jamb. You can also take a caliper to the junkard and measure the diameter:

1 = 1.09" (<- this is Ford info. FWIW, my #1 bars measure closer to 1.10")
B = 1.06"
F = 1.03"

Torsion bars are computer selected on the assembly line to match vehicle configuration and options. Obviously, the #1 bars are the thickest and have the highest spring rate - these are usually found on optioned up Ranger 4x4 Supercabs although some have B's. F bars are found on lighter Rangers such as the 2WD regular cab Edge.

It's also important to know that the left and right torsion bars are different lengths.
