Bought a 01 ranger 4x4 with a 4.0 and auto trans. Read several posts in these forums on the control module issue. I have 4wd no lights, no clicking in the cab. Bought a used unit from a salvage yard, plugged it in and blew the brake switch fuse. My fault I didn't know to disconnect the negative battery cable. So now I tried to do it by disconnecting the negative, waited an hour to remove and replug in the CM and still no go. Wonder if I fried the new one? So I need help please?!

What years can I use for replacement ? 01-05 ranger or explorer? Does the CM part number printed on the label matter?

Is my brake fuse blowing related or do I need a switch on the steering column

Any other issue that it may be?

I tapped on the motor at the transfer case and nothing . Checked all fuses, not sure about the relays, I did move some around (3 are the same) and still no change. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction on this???

Thanks in advance!!!!
