i have a 2001 ranger and a couple months ago i started my truck in the morning and the oil gauge was on low and check gauge light came on, a couple minutes later when the car warmed up a little, the gauge went to regular and check gauge light goes off.
ive changed the oil every 3000 miles and have no leak and no oil loss.
does anyone know what is causing this and how can i fix it

also today when i shifted my car from drive to park it died on me, so i turned it back on, drove it around the block and when i put it in park the rpm went down to like 200 and i had to rev it to keep it alive. i noticed that it idles higher in gear then when in park or neurtrel

if u know what is wrong or how to fix please let me know

Welcome to The Ranger Station!

Sounds like you need to replace the oil pressure sender (it's a 7psi pressure switch). MOTORCRAFT Part # SW5192 or #F75F9278CB, F75Z9278CB

The idle is controlled by the IAC. Cleaning it may help. The shaft tends to get gummed up. Here's some generic info about that: http://oldfuelinjection.com/?p=39

Yours will be the newer type. MOTORCRAFT Part # CX2065 #2L5Z9F715BA, 5L5Z9F715A

I've been having the same issue with the oil pressure. What did you have to do to replace the sending unit?

first i had to find it, it os located on driver side up high on the oil pan. it was eassier for me to jack up the truck and i went through the wheel well with a 16 inch extension. i just unscrewed the old one which was accomplished with a spark plug socket and then replaced it with a new sender and that was it. your gonna need to change your oil in the process
