2000 XLT Off Road with 245/75/R16. Any way to use the standard 235/75/R15's on it?

Hi All

I bought my wife a 2000 XLT Off Road with the 245/75/R16's on it.
She's not really an Off Roader so the 235/75/R15's that her 94 had on it would suit her just fine and be way less expensive to replace.

Pretty sure I can't just swap to the smaller size because of the ABS and probly other stuff but is it possible to modify to use the standard size?

Thanks in advance!
Bill

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
Iirc the brakes still fit in a 14....ant the hole center on a 15 should be as big or bigger.

So if they all match. .bolt up the front and check

Your Speedo will be a bit high and your odometer will rack up”miles” faster, about .05% faster. Other then that your should be good to go.

My 2011 came with 235/75R15 tires and the Sport comes with the 16" tires. So, they will fit. The 235/75R15 tires cause the speedometer read about 2 mph faster than what you are actually traveling. The 16" tires, if they are the factory size, are about 30" in diameter and read pretty much true. So, not a huge difference in speed and actually a bit in your favor if you or she has a bit of a heavy foot.

245/75/R16 = 30.5"
235/75/R15 = 29.0"

That is a 5% difference, not a .05% difference. That means your speedo will show 5% higher than it should. The plus side is that the truck will act like it has 5% more torque. Oh, and it will look silly with those little tires on the truck.

My credo
the grey-t escape
If the rims fit without hitting the front calipers you should be ok, I bought my winter wheels (225/70/15’s) from someone who had bought them to put his ranger (that came with 16”s, unsure of the year) and they wouldnt work on his front end without caliper interference. For the fun of it I tried to put a 15” ranger wheel on the front of the escape (has 235/70/16’s), it didnt fit- the offset wouldnt have worked anyways as the escape has positive offset rims. 16” escape rims however will work on a ranger with 1-1/2” spacers. Try a rim and see, it will either work or it wont.
