My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Tank and fender are now wearing primer.

I got lucky and had only a couple bugs land on the wet tank, nothing a quick touch up won't fix tomorrow.

I plan on getting a can of some random metallic silver as a base coat for the gold flake. When I ordered my paint from kustomcans I was only intending to be painting the tank and a very minimal rear fender.. now that I have to cover the stock full size fender I'm questioning whether or not I have enough.. mostly of the clear. I need to be able to put enough topcoats over the flake to bury it.

Got 2 coats of rustoleum bright coat laid down as a base today. I am somewhat impressed with just how 'bright' it actually is.. however.. LIGHT COATS are quite necessary. Stuff runs really easy.

Got a few dribbles to take care of tomorrow I guess, then I'll finish off the can and prepare for flake!

I'm really considering setting up a hodge podge paint booth for when I do the candy coats and the clear. Painting isn't my thing to begin with... so if I end up with bugs and dust in the most important coats I need to lay down I'm gonna be super discouraged and irritated lol.

I was thinking about harbor freights 10x10 portable garage, a few cheapo led lights, and a fan for exhaust. A filtered intake fan would be ideal.. but I really don't want to get that far into a sub-project for a project that was supposed to be cheap and easy 😅

Things always escalate around here lol I don't know why

Dribbles sanded and can has been finished off.

My 'paint booth' I've decided will be one of the harbor freight pop up 10x10 canopies with some poly wrapped around it for walls and duct taped on lol. I'm gonna try to pick one up this weekend so I can hopefully finish up painting next week 😎

Hey hey me again, someone already mention the shock treatment ....

more: a thought -- or five 8D, if you're keeping the bike, save drain plug's threads -- quick as possible shock hit it with TITANIUM hammer but first hit it with 5~10% acetone in transmission oil or diesel ... it has to be on the net somewhere the ratio mix --- anyway after it has soaked for a minute or five -- CRACK IT FAST / QUICK! a couple times with TITANIUM .... well, if you've already rounded it, yeah tap. Paint.... light, time is your friend, no hurry no worries, light coats come back light coats == no runs. Time is your friend.

That is all. TOP REGARDS !

I got my flake sprayed today. Not happy with results, project cost is about to increase lol.

The flakes really aren't big enough for my liking, and one can wouldn't of been enough anyways..

My vision was super big lowrider status flakes that you can see a mile away.. not little trailer queen 69 camaro size flakes. Obviously size of flake is limited due to being in a spray can.. but.. really not big enough.

I'm going to pick up a can of rustoleums glitter paint, to see how big the flakes are and see what kind of coverage a can provides. If I don't like the rustoleum stuff I'm pretty much gonna be forced to buy 3 more cans of this stuff.. another for the tank and the others for the fender.

Annoying.

When I bought my wheeler I bought an old school looking open face gold flake helmet to go along with it lol, so kinda picked the colors for the bike to complement the sweet assed skid lid.

*found a pic lol

Could have someone stand next to you grinding away on some flat stock while you spray on the clear.

It may come down to that lol.

Bought a can of the rustoleum stuff, if the actual color of what's in the can matches the color of the lid its going to be too dark.

To make things more annoying, kustom cans is all out of 12oz cans at the moment due to supply/shipping issues 😑 but they hope to have some in a week or two.

They have plenty of 5oz cans though...

I just wanna ride my bike lol.

I guess their stock issues are just for clear coats and stuff 🤷‍♀️ so I just bit the bullet and ordered 3 more cans of the same stuff. Ideally the flakes would be bigger... but im sure just adding more of them will satisfy me enough.

Haha good eye.

The past few years I've noticed my hairline making a steady retreat... so I decided to give myself a wacky haircut while I still had enough hair to do so 😅

I'm getting a good portion of my head tattood before Christmas in preparation for baldness, but after that I'm gonna grow my hair out until June or July then chop it into a mullet. Then I can go bald and be happy.
