I’ve read a lot of info. Starting to get stir crazy here. So i thought i would post a thread for my father who wants to do this swap.

Truck:
2000 Ford ranger 4x4 extended cab
Manual trans.

I’m currently looking for an awd explorer for the Swap. By what I’m reading it’s best to either stick with the awd setup or use an f150 transmission and transfer case.

Questions:
Which f150?
Will the t-case fit and bolt in the frame without modifying? (Mounts, etc).
F150 drive shafts or modify the rangers?
Any other parts needed on the trans/tcase side?

It’s a little late now I guess but to keep the manual you need a M5OD-R2 transmission from a 97-04? F150 with the v6 motor, they have the same bellhousing pattern as the explorer 5.0 and the shifter is better placed for a ranger. For transfer cases, you have to go to a BW4406 from a f150 too. Check out explorer forum, there’s a guy that did a manual swap into a 5.0 explorer. Get your parts list from there
