Alright so I have a 2000 ranger I'm putting a 351w into and I'm just curious about the motor mounts. It looks like since 1998 the motor mounts used for the 4cyl are the same as the ones used for the v6's in the rangers. Is this true? And if so, will I just be able to build a plate to go from these existing mounts to the mounts on the 351?

I know that in previous years the 4cyl mounts were hydraulic filled and not as strong as the v6's. The part number appears to be the same on anything 98+

Thanks for any help
Dave.

Well it appears that I've stumped the entire trs community.

Even a "Yes they are the same, you're an idiot" would be appreciated at this point.

Well sorry but must have missed your first posting. Your profile still shows a '86'. What kind of suspension do you have in the truck you want to do the swap in, torson bar or coil spring. Going to need a V-8 mount no matter which.

My bad I didn't mean to sound like a d*ck.

And yeah sorry that was my other truck in my profile.

It's a 2000 2wd and not an edge so I assume it's coil spring.

I read on a 4.6 swap online and he said that he used the stock 2.5 mounts on his '98.

So I guess my real question at this point is: Should I use the 2.5 mounts and build a plate off of those and they'll hold up, or should I buy stock mounts from a 2wd explorer and those will work to build a plate off of?

Thanks.

I'd worry more about what headers you are going to use. Very few been proven to work in the later chassis even with the 5.0, no off the shelf for the 351. The best ones for the 5.0L are the expensive Torque Monsters but the run about $780, but good up to around 380HP. Just a heads up!

So, there is not any oem options for mounts? Is there a link to dimensions for the custom brackets?

If you had the torson bar suspension then the Explorer mounts would work. For the coil spring suspension you would have to contact Brian for the design.

Yeah don't worry mac i'm already planning to do custom headers. There is jack for off-the-shelf headers for this swap. I'm not too concerned.

Sorry should have recconized that you were on RPS also. Tmosko over there had a 351 in a late model (but 4x4) and he has some good pictures of how he had to snake the tubes around. If you cant find them doing a search, I snagged the pictures and saved them.

Yeah I managed to find them. That's some crazy stuff. I'm only doing 2wd so hopefully I'll be able to avoid a lot of his hassle.

Thanks for the link
