2000 4cyl(2.5 swap already), 8.8 rear, 410 gear, manual.
Gonna do a V8 swap soon, just wondering if anyone knows what kinda clutch cable would work and what Trans to use. Crossmembers, etc.

Thanks in advance, I already fixed my damn door chime with this website lol, black wire, pink stripe, dykes and electric tape.

Welcome to TRS :)

Engine swap is a little more complicated than door chime fix, lol

If your Ranger is a manual now then you can use the same clutch pedal and master for the V8 conversion

If using a 302/5.0l V8 then you can use the 1997-2003 M5OD-R2(M5R2) transmission from a 2WD F-150 with a 4.2l V6 engine
The 4.2l V6 in those years used the same trans bolt pattern as the 302/5.0l V8, you do need to enlarge the bellhousing holes by 1/16" because the 5.0l used slightly larger bolts
Shifter on the M5R2 is in the same place as the smaller M5OD-R1 used in Rangers, so good fit
You use the clutch and slave for 5.0l

Yes 302 cast iron.
I've done several shoe horns in my lifetime. Man I like a T-5 tho and a cable clutch setup if I could.

You could probably make a cable adapter like this one: https://tiltonracing.com/product/cable-clutch-linkage-kit/

It would attach to engine side of firewall and threaded rod to the Ranger clutch pedal arm
You just need a long enough lever to get the movement needed at the bellhousing
You would probably have the lever for the cable going down instead of up because of power brake booster, not sure of clearance above.
Might need to drill a hole lower on the pedal's arm to get better leverage or more travel, or make a clamp on bracket
But certainly "doable"

I put a T5 in my 1990. You will need to get a drive shaft made most likely. And I made a steel plate to extend forward so the trans would bolt up to my crossmember. Also I would recommend a s-10 tail housing for the T5 if you dont want the shifter further back. And im not sure if the 2000 uses a mechanical speedometer or electric.

2000 Ranger uses rear axle ABS/VSS and GEM module for speedometer and cruise, so shouldn't be effected by engine/trans swap

From my reading the m5odr2 has short first gear, I would prefer a t5 or 6[pipe dream]. What all is necessary for shifter to get a t5 in reg cab ranger?,
Edit
I saw rams link
