Hi all, I'm new here. Hopefully someone can help. I have an 88 Ranger that starts and runs fine until I have to turn the engine off (to go in the store or something) then upon restart, if I don't keep revving the engine, idle drops below 500rpms and engine dies. It doesn't "warm back up" if I force idle for even 10 minutes and will die at every stop when I remove my foot from the gas. After it sits for several hours, it starts and runs fine. This all apparently started after my daughter left the lights on at work and drained the battery completely. Not sure if related or just coincidence. I would appreciate any assistance you all can give, I know more about suspensions than I do engines..

Well I had the same problem and started going down the list of possible reasons why first thing I did was a complete tune up seemed to have worked but shortly afterwards the same thing happened from everything I've read about this could be ignition control module or map sensor I'm still working on my 88 ranger replaced both fuel pumps and inline filters and I still can't get it to stay running hope any of this helps you if I have any new developments I'll post it
