I have a Bronco 2.9 that is in a complete rebuild process. It has had a little head and intake work done to it just for the heck of it and now I'd like to find cam with just a little performance biult in to in it to take advantage of the work put in the rest of the motor. Plan is just to put it on the street so no dream of high HP or smoking burnouts. Anyone have a source for one. Have tried all the sites I know.

overall answer will be do the 4.0 swap.. but....... the 2.9 only puts out so much power. i never found a cam that was what i wanted for the 2.9, thought about having one made at comp cams here in memphis. but figured out the 4.0 was the way to go..

Have you tried to contact Charles at camcraft cams? Colts cams in Langley, BC would probably do a custom grind for you and they are pretty reasonable as far as price.

Yeah, you can probably buy a 4.0 for the price of a good cam.
That being said, if you like your 2.9 for other reasons (Such as fuel economy) e-mailing these guys might help.

I couldn't find anything but rebuild kits for the 2.9l with a quick search, and they are all just replacement stock cams.

As I said, I am wanting to complete a rebuild project. Not throw out everything that has been done this far and put in a 4.0, which I already have two of. Just something to fool around with. Call it an experiment. I'll try the names mentioned.

It was my sons project while in Voc School. Best I remember, bored 0.060 OS, heads(new) ported and matched to intake, both polished. His instructor became ill during the semester and it wasn't finished. Not sure what else he may have done. You have any suggestions for other mods?
