My credo
Deengineer until it is how Blue Oval should have sold it!!
fordwheelinman,

I had one of these engines, I rebuilt it, only put about 5k miles on it, then it sat for 8-10 years. When I decided to use it the lower intake manifold gasket had been compromised, as I understand due to dissimilar metal corrosion between the the iron block/heads and Al intakes.

It ran and i was able to verify the timing but had a miss. I located a small coolant leak from the top of the engine, I then inspection the lower intake manifold gasket, I found the gasket compromised front and back, just above the coolant galleys.
