Hi All,

New member trying to keep an '84 2.8l going. I've been doing a lot of research but not finding any answers to swapping heads on these engines. Mine are cracked and the best option I've found online are 2.9l heads. Does anyone know if these will work? I can see the exhaust ports are different but not much else. 2.8l heads are near impossible to find.

There are issues with the intakes not lining up correctly. I've seen it from people trying to put 2.8 intakes on 2.9s to do carb swaps and EFI deletes.

My credo
If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
Check with Gary Baum at Second Generation Mustang, he deals in Mustang II parts and has a 2.8 car himself. I've dealt with him for years.

I'm by far not an expert but my gut is saying they're not interchangeable. Too many other major engine differences is why my gut is saying this. Please keep in mind it's not me saying this, just my gut.

Heh...my gut is also telling me they won't line up. Trying to find 2.8 parts is so hard. I wish I had the time to do a 4.0 swap. I may have to resort to getting some new ones. Expensive though.
