I'm in the process of tearing down and disposing of an old, tired 2.8 V6 out of an '85 RCLB. Previous owner says the engine leaked like crazy but wasn't blown. It turned freely, to a point; one cylinder has some surface rust on the bore (valves must have both been open).

Does anyone need/want anything?

I'm keeping the oil pan, oil pick-up screen/tube and the timing gear cover.

Everything else (block, pistons, rods, crank, cam, cam gear, main caps, main bolts, con-rod bolts/nuts, etc.) is up for grabs. I have limited space so this stuff isn't going to be around for too long (2 weeks max). I have no issue boxing stuff up and shipping (at your cost). Shipping isn't cheap these days so I understand if there's a reluctance to respond. If you're local to Chicago, we can meet up.

Many moons ago, I had a 2.8 rebuilt. I drove it for 17 years after that, a very solid 4 square engine.

Get it magnafluxed. Make sure the heads aren't cracked.

I would do that if the truck didn't come with a rebuilt long block. TBH, I didn't even know there was a spare motor included in the deal until a few days before I picked it up. The PO sent a pic of the truck with the bed loaded with both engines , the tranny and a bunch of take-off parts. It's going to the scrap yard.
