What is the difference between the the duritac and lima? I hava a 01 2.3 and i was wondering if i could put it in anything older than an 01 2.3 or if it could go in the 2.5? Thanks

They are completely different engines...no parts between them are interchangable.

so than an 01 motor wont go in anything older than on 01 2.3? not even in the 2.5? Thanks

Hey, welcome to TRS!
If they can put a 500 caddy in a chevette, It would be no problem putting a duratec in an older Ranger.
Really though, It would be a complete custom job. Nothing will bolt or plug in.

how often do the motors go bad in the 2.3 d? I have seen some with 400k still running good.

Well, I fix cars for a living. I work on everything. I've NEVER worked on a Duratec. I would have to say that they are better than average. That might not mean anything though.

so if i would pu the motor in an older truc ki would have to redo the whole wiring, make new motor and tranny mounts? anything else? Thanks

Probably the hardest part would be the computer/wiring. Motor mounts might be the same, if not it shouldn't be hard to make something work. The bellhousing bolt pattern for the transmissions are different so you'll need a new tranny, but it's the same tranny so it should just bolt right in.
