I have a 1993 ford ranger
It has new fuel pump, fuel filter, timing belt, crank position sensor.
When you get it started it surges and if you give it any gas it dies.
Any idea?

My credo
vertical and above ground
Except for the fact it dies, does it start and idle normally? A few things to check are 1)the timing belt alignment to the marks on the crank/aux and cam sprockets. The MAF can cause problems if it fails, as it informs the computer of added air. A leaky intake manifold could allow un-metered air, leaning out the mix, causing stalling.
Did you check fuel pressure and delivery volume? Does the fuel pressure regulator work? When you open the throttle, the regulator responds to the vacuum drop by bumping fuel pressure. If it doesn't work, no bump, and no 'extra jolt' of fuel, and potential stall.
If you put it in gear, does it die? If a manual, can you 'nurse' it up to driving speeds? Bad timing or lack of fuel will / can make that difficult.

i have took MAF off and cleaned it it didn't look to be very old. didn't make any difference
i have took throttle body off and cleaned it. didn't make any difference
i have looked for vacuum leaks and couldn't find any.
