2.3 performance

ok so im in the process of buying a 95 ranger 2wd 5spd

its $500

its needs a clutch and heater core

a few questions first how hard it a heater on one of these
and does anyone know where i can get a lightweight flywheel in trying to find one


but the plans are

cai thrush welded to duels out the back
jet chip bigger injecters hurst shifter shave the head port and polish
a 2in drop and a few miss. parts on the out side what do you think

Here is a link to a flywheel that we might use http://www.stinger-performance.com/suspensionparts.html .If you want something a little less expensive,you can use a 91 Escort 1.9 flywheel,They are about 7-8 lbs lighter

can anyone back this up at all
they have the same bolt paddern but the holes are diffrent is the escort flywheel ballanced

If you want a power gain out of a 2.3, put turbo on it. Porting and polishing the heads might help. A lighter fly wheel will help too. As for the bolt paterns, no clue, might be a case of trial and error.

If you were adding a cold air intake, the truck came with that from the factory, ford built it right leave it alone. If you were adding headers, not much of a gain or non at all.

well.. i have a cold air kit for it and i really did get much out of it except to say i have one it was a off day with random parts but i didnt loose anything and in upping the injector size and putting in a cam so i will need a little more air but it mostly just so when i pop my hood people who like cars and know nothing about them can act like they do when they see something shiney

for the heater, ive been reading about it cause i need to fix mine. you got to take apart the dash bord. and for a 95 up till at lease 97 it means takeing the steering wheel, parking brake, hood release, fuse box, and radio off(maybe more). but just need to take your time and lay out all the parts you take out in order, and you should be good, but get a haynes repair manual for you truck, can get one at almost any auto store. should have one anyway. also it might be the Blend Door, read this http://www.therangerstation.com/Magazine/Summer2009/blend-door.htm it will give you the 411 on it. have fun

Mongo,the truck that we are racing now,a 98 2.5,has a escort flywheel in it.The last two trucks we build had escort flywheels in them.We run that and 78 Granada clutch and pressure plate as they are lighter.This is a common thing to do when you race in a stock class and have to use stock componets.A couple guys are running a Tilton setup but haven't got caught with it yet.You can go to www.4m.net and go to the mini stock page to find out more.If you want to see some pics of our truck,go to www.adirondackspeedway.com and look at the 22 truck

The heater core is about a 10-15 minute job.....very, very, very simple.
The clutch, however, will take some time.
The price seems right so I'd go for it

A Heater core on a '95? I thought you had to take the entire dash out. Not the same as on a pre-95, which is indeed a 15 minute job.
