Motor from a 1973 Capri. 250HP. Pistons .030 over.
Head shaved .030, solid cam with spray bar,Offenhauser Duel Port Alum. intake (ported & polished), Holly 400 Square Bore carb., header.

came across that ad and i was wondering if that setup could devellop that much hp?

and how much an engine like this could be worth? 4 speed tranny included.

a naturaly asperated carbed 2.0 pushing 250hp? not in a million years unless a TON of money was dumped into it.
my 2.3 is around 350hp but thats with port work, full standalone ems, 44lb injectors and 20psi of boost.

honestly i couldn't tell you how much power it would make.
it would actually be pretty easy to swap in a 2.3turbo from a thunderbird, merker, or svo. the wiring change isn't to hard and the power is awesome! plus you can use your stock trans and motor mounts

i was more looking at the ease to work on a carb, the hp comes into play with the asking price... tried to contact the guy through email, but the ad is almost 2 months old. But you're right, the more i read about it, simplest way would be to find one of these turbo engines for more power.

The most I've heard of without dumping a crapload of cash or a turbo is around 175.23 HP...but that is still putting things on and changing things that usually cost a considerable amount of $$$$...and if it doesn't cost much in actual dollars it will cost in the work you have to put into it...buying the parts...

However, you can get the 2.0 to perform better or at least reasonably well with a few changes...and there are actually a few threads on this already...so maybe dip a bit into the threads and you will probably learn things you can do yourself for relatively a small amount of money...

Changing the rear gears can also make it appear faster...and it will be to some extent...
