1998 Explorer V8

I'm looking at purchasing one of two 1998 Explorer Limited V8 models, and one states AWD, the other states 2WD. While researching on Edmunds.com and looking at the complete list of available models for 1998, no where does it show a 2WD V8 model available for 1998.

Perhaps the person who is selling the one saying it's 2WD thinks it's 2WD because there is no 4WD switch on the dash?


So my question is this: Can anyone help me out and give me a definite answer on whether or not all V8 models were AWD?

Yes, there were 4x2 Explorers. Thought an option for all V-8 years. Really rare up here but common down South.
