Ok, so I finally got the "beast" put together today, went to start it up for the first time and F**$ it cranked but no spark! I immediatly went through the wiring harness that I had installed and everything seems to be hooked up correctly. I did notice a ground wire that wasn't tight so I tightened it and still nothing. When I was putting in the harness I did have to cut and splice the CPS wire since the new ones tab was broken. I'm at my wits end here and...well I'm about to start throwing tools. Any ideas as to what it could be? Also this is a replacement motor in it so I have no clue what its original condition was or it it had any electrical component problems.:icon_confused:

You put a 95 explorer motor in a 98 ranger? what computer are you using? What wiring harness did you use? A little more information will be needed.

I'm using the 95 motor and a 98 harness and computer, do you think this could be a problem?

Ok, so me and my grandfather were looking it over today. It has power running to the distributor, as well as the CPS... so I'm thinking now it has to be the computer. Only problem is changing back to the explorer wiring harness requires mucho modifications to the electrical system... Has anyone done this? If so what did you have to change, what did you not?

Ok, so I got to thinking about the whole computer issue... So I went outside and took the computer out of my 1997 explorer that I was parting out anyway. I put it in the truck and bammo turned the key and it fired right up! THE BEAST LIVES! Thanks Louis and everyone else for pointing me in the right direction. Now I've just got to bleed the brakes and swap out wheels with the explorer and its done. Will post picks soon

hmm.. well Like I siad above I just replaced the computer with a computer that belongs to that engine. So if you're using a 94 explorer motor and a 93 computer, certain things like the CPS won't work right. I'd recommend getting an similar year explorer computer. Hope this helps

Not neccessarily, I swapped a 94' explorer engine with a 98' ranger. Had to splice one connector because the newer part wouldn't fit, runs pretty good
