1996 Ford ranger orifice tube 2.3l

Just wanting to clarify the direction of the orifice tube flow. I went to replace it and it wasn't even in the evaporator line lol. It is my understanding the flow arrow should face the evaporator?

Yes, arrow faces/points to evaporator

And Orifice tube is what makes it an AC system, replaced the Expansion valve
So the system could not have work without one or the other, not "may not have worked" could not work

Orifice tube is on the IN line of the evaporator, that can be at the top or bottom

Good deal thankyou I got it replaced. I have one other question. When I go do draw a vaccum on the system is it going to take oil out of the lines or can I just do a vaccum, check for leaks, and recharge to correct amount?

The oil is too heavy to be sucked out, so stays where it is

Just some of the "air" is sucked out
At sea level outside air pressure is 15psi(14.7psi)
When you suck out some of the "air" you lower the pressure inside the AC system, that outside pressure will try to get in where ever it can
So if the vacuum(lower pressure) holds over time that means the outside "air" can't find a way in, so any "freon" added later won't find its way out

Got the orifice replaced, vacuumed, didn't leak down after vaccum was done recharged system and now ac is cold and working as should thankyou for your help man.
