Hello,
Recently purchased a 1995 ranger 3.0 automatic with the "od off" light flashing which eventually throws the check engine light. Currently working through the problem and could use some help. First step I did was inspect fluid and pull codes. Fluid looks good still red and does not smell burnt. Computer returns code p0743. I have a standard OBD reader so I am not sure if there is additional info behind that code. First diagnostic steps I have taken are:
1. Removed PCM connector and cleaned both PCM pins and connector
2. Removed transmission connector and cleaned all pins
3. Probed for resistance on TCC solenoid which returned 26 OHMS
My primary confusion is that the "od off" light begins flashing only a few seconds after the truck is started after the codes are cleared. Once the truck is turned off and on again then it will throw the check engine light. Since the truck is not moving and the transmission has no need to engage overdrive is it probable that there is simply a cut/broken wire somewhere? It seems odd to me that the light would come on instantly after a code clear unless there was a very clear break in the circuit. Any help regarding troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated. I have linked below some videos I took that may further help pin down the cause. I understand that this code is usually just a bad solenoid does this sound like thats the case?
