I will be using this f150 to tow my 94 Ranger on a u-haul trailer. Truck has always been maintained when needed, and has only used Ford parts. It has 180,000 miles, and it has a trailer hitch. Don't recall the gear ratio. It's a standard cab, long bed, 2wd, 5.0, auto. Is there anything I should do to this truck to get it ready for the tow possibly 800+ miles in whatever direction I go. All fluids, filters, tune-up, all basic maintenance has been done. Any suggestions will be great as the clock is ticking for my move.

I had 2 rangers a 96 and a 94. Recently sold my 96, and my 94 will stay with me forever.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
If fluids and filtersrs are good, check condition of serpentine belt and make sure tires are good. Inspect for rust. Maybe run some throttle/injector cleaner through it. Then drive on with the peace of knowing you have a good truck.

My credo
A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
Belts/hoses.
U joints.
Tires.
Pulleys (mainly the tensioner/idler)

Just think of all the aggravating 20 dollar parts that could leave you sitting at 2am, and check those :)

Tires are 60% tread left. Taking it soon for an alignment, and will have all suspension checked. My alignment guy is also a great mechanic, will have him check those others mentioned.

1st post here, with a new (to me) 95 300 stick. I had a tire episode and offer this advice. TIRES ARE CRITICAL. Damn lucky it only delaminated; it kept it's air.

Anyway, here's Mister's new shoes.
