hey all, New to the site, need some help/advice!!

I have a 94' B4000, the 4x4 has stopped working.
Originally it would stick, sometimes whe I would push the 4x4 button the light would come on but not engage the 4x4, and would take a few tries to work. Now it just dosn't engage at all. when I push the 4x4 button I can hear clicking in the 4x4 module behind my seat, as well as the battery gauge flickers, so I believe the power is working. I was thinking it might be the shift motor?? I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem and might know whats wrong?

Also I was wondering if at all possible, are threre any manual transfer cases in the 94 model's or compatale manual transfer cases, and is it worth switching it to manual and just bypass all the electrical junk??

thanks in advance for the help! cheers

I had a similar issue on an old '90 STX I had. I could hear the control module making clicking noises behind the seats. However, the 4WD never engaged. I just kept at it until one day, @ 40 MPH, I hit the button and BANG, the 4WD engaged. I'm still surprised I didn't blow the auto-engaging hubs apart. The 4WD system worked fine after that.

In retrospect, my hubs may have been frozen, literally, due to moisture. I think they can replaced, with manual locking hubs, which should address your issue.
