I have a 1993 ford ranger splash and i just put a new engine in it and went to start it up and the little starter wire that runs from the fender starter solenoid melted and burnt into the two big wires that goes to the starter and the solenoid got burnt too trying to find the issue. any ideas and help would be apricated

no when I went and pulled off the wires the small one was just melted to the plastic wire loom and had burnt the big wires where they meet the battery terminal. I'm going Tuesday to the u pull to get new ones just trying to find out what caused it so it don't happen again.

There is only 1 "big" wire at the starter, and 1 "small" wire at the starter

There can be 1 other "big" wire that goes from Battery Negative to a starter motor BOLT, not starter motor, it's attached to one of the bolts than holds starter motor to bell housing

If either "starter motor wire" touches the negative battery terminal wire you WILL get what you described, melted wires

theres one big wire that goes from battery to starter then one that goes to the selenide then a small wire from it to the starter then the ground wire from batter to the starter bolt.
