Hello everyone, I am brand new to this page so bear with me about technicalities.

I have a 1990 Ranger 2.9L and I recently washed it. After I finished, I realized my AC wasn't blowing at all, at any speed, while idling.

I checked the fuse and it is good. Could washing it be the cause of this, like water getting into the system and shorting out something? If so, what could I check/replace to fix this issue? I think on the 1990s the blower runs directly off the fuse and there is no relay involved, however, I do believe there is a resistor but I'm not entirely too sure.

I live in North Carolina in the middle of summer when the humidity is through the roof and the temperature is in the 90s-100s, so solving this issue will be a life-saver 😂

Many Thanks!

The resistors are prone to failure. Look for some wiring plugged into the ductwork under the hood somewhere near the fan. You can leave the wiring plugged in and take the screws out, and you will see small coils of wire that look like springs. These are the resistors. They are mounted in the airflow of the fan to keep them cool, they turn cherry red when the fan is running.

If the resistors look intact, see if you have a small silver cylinder looking thing in the middle of the resistors. This is a thermal fuse. You can take your meter and put it on ohms and see if you have continuity through the fuse. If not, it's blown out. You can replace the resistor assembly, or someone had some numbers the other day on here where you can buy a new thermal fuse and install it. Or you can be "one of those guys" like me and just jump around the fuse.
