Hi guys, I've ben looking at this 90 Mustang GT with the 5.0 efi and C4 AOD. Considering putting it in my 84 Bll. Supposedly they already have the dual sump oil pan and put out around 225 HP and 300 torque. With the BW 1350 in my truck and an adapter would I have to make any changes to the driveline. Looked in the tranny sections and nobody really covers the AOD. And should i leave it efi or carb it. The efi does'nt look to hard to swap in, but the Bll does'nt have a spot for OBD. I'm running 15x31 and don't plan on going much bigger. Already have a 3 inch body lift on it too. And is the AOD tranny mechanical or electric OD. From what I could gather it's mechanical and does,nt need anything else to hook in up. Thanks for the help.

The mods to put the C4 or AOD in should be minor--like slotting the holes on the transmission crossmember for minor fore and aft adjustment. The AOD in early versions is not electronic, but there is an E4OD which you probably don't want. The EFI is relatively easy to wire in and the OBD1 connections are part of the Mustang wiring harness. There is a cable called the T.V. cable that requires careful adjustment on the AOD or you will toast your transmission.

It is a whole lot easier to use the Explorer front engine accessory drive so the motor to radiator distance is better.

The Google search window in the upper right section of the forum pages generally provides tons of good information on these things.

I've been lookig for V8's from Explorers or Mountainers, and they're are'nt any I've found. Or they want an insane price for them becase they're still in decent shape. Fiqured there are Mustangs out the butt that are decent and cheap. This one was rebuilt with the smaller accessory pulleys and electric fans already. And when I do this I prefer the V8 over the V6 anyway. I checked the forums too. Most of the threads don't provide enough info or just plan stop posting. Or they're not relevant to what I'm attempting. IE different setups, motor, tranny, TC are newer versions. But I look anyway, very time consuming lol. But thanks for your input and hopefully I'll start soon.

I agree, it is time consuming! Belton Wrench A Part generally has a couple V8 Explorers and that's where I found my parts. You can search their inventory online, but it won't tell what engine it has.

Here are some of my bookmarks for information on my recent V8 swap. You won't find one place with all the answers since every swap is different, but you can glean a lot of what you need from these.

Yes, I looked at your build thread and many others, all impressive. I saw that you were in Cove when you answered someone else's question, me too. That's a whole lot of information there, thanks. It'll take me awhile to check it all out. The last time I went to the Pic N Pull they didn't have a whole bunch of good vehicles. Guess I need to check again.
