First time poster so be easy on me :) Need a hood release cable for 1988 Ford Ranger. Part # below. It's discontinued and I can't find one. Happy to buy used but not sure where to purchase on-line. Nothing available on eBay. Thanks in advance.

Do the 89-92 rangers use same cable as the 83-88 rangers? I was looking for one myself a while back but didn't know if cables were interchangable?

they're different at the dash end, if you don't care what it looks like it will work. I broke the cable in mine a while back, replaced it with a spare, and saved the old assembly, I'll stick a new cable on it at some point. I wish I had the forethought to save all of this stuff 20 years ago when I got into these things, stupid me thought they'd be around forever.,

There’s always hood pins if youd like to do away with the release cable altogether. I had to on this car after it was damaged and the front core support was pushed back, the whole hood latch had to be removed and hood pins were much better than a rubber strap to the bumper.
