Hey y'all! New guy here sent your way from a few very awesome reviews and considerations from the Ford Bronco Sub reddit.

I would truly appreciate everyone's help. I'm looking to be a first time ever Bronco owner and am looking at this guy seen bellow. Do you think the price is worth what the description says? Remember his asking price (without me bartering dropped to $2500 NOT original $3000) after getting it to $2000 I'm very serious and days away from this possible purchase so let me know what you guys think and how much i can probably talk him down from or if this vehicle looks worth of purchase at all..

SELLER description

1988 ford bronco 2
-manual
-driven 80,000 miles
pros-
-driveline is out of a 98 ranger(4.0 5speed)
-engine and transmission were rebuilt less than 3k miles ago
-lifted on 35 inch tires
cons-
-has front end damage but a bumper and grille would fix it
-has small exhaust leak (needs a set of headers)

*he says the leak is from self welding and burning in hot*

He says the hole he burned from welding is located in the exhaust manifold. Would this be the reason to need new headers? Do you guys think this is a big expensive problem?

Yes it could be the reason.

Its not really expensive to buy manifolds/headers, but, getting the old ones off can be a bitch as 9/10 times youll break atleast a few studs off in the head and have to drill them out.

On a 4.0BII im guessing removal of front fender/inner fender is required to do this, maybe even the head.

Wiring and general overall quality of the 4.0 swap looks awful and I would expect lots of things, like gauges, lights, etc to be non functional.

I also call BS on the "rebuilt engine and trans" thing - make him provide some proof from a machine shop, if he can't, it's highly likely that his idea of a rebuild is throwing valve cover gaskets on it.

Also calling BS on the welding hole deal.

It sounds to me like he got it from someone else who did the engine swap and has now found out what a cluster it is and wants to pass it off to some poor sucker. I'd advise that you not be that guy.

Too much for a fairly clean looking shell.

Whatever the last guy did to it I have no faith in.

gotta agree with most of the posts here... Not saying my swap skillz are top notch, but at least if I did the swap myself and it ended up looking like that I would know for the most part how I did it and be able to trace down my mistakes much easier. No way I would like to go in and figure out someone elses goofed up install and try to get into their mind on why the heck they did this in the way that they did. I have other things to do lol

Price is a lot of it too.

IMO a $2k+ BII had better be darn near perfect.

Lots of rotten BII's sitting in the weeds on Omaha Marketplace for a grand +/- though.

With some negotiation this one has potential though:

Thisis his response. "I don’t have any papers cuz I did everything myself . And it’s not gonna look brand new cuz it’s 40 years old"
40 years didn’t butcher the install... he did.

Fixed it for him. If he could run the machine to bore the engine/turn the crank and had all the tools to rebuild the trans he could run a welder good enough to not burn holes in the exhaust or would know somebody that did.

Does it drive? That isn't listed under either the pro or con category.
