1988 2.9 - Looking for Fuel Accumulator Filter

I have a 1988 Ford Ranger 4x4 with the 2.9. Putting all of the fuel system components back together, does anyone have a part number for the new filter and O-ring for the fuel accumulator in between the tank and the frame rail pump? Or what’s the best way to delete the whole accumulator itself? Thanks

Open it up and make sure its even got a filter.

Some do...some dont.

I bought a filter for it but didnt need it...cause mine didnt have one. Ordered it at autovalue

Mine came with a filter in it, so yours ran fine without a filter in it?

At some point Ford quit putting a filter in them, yours should have the inline filter forward of the high-pressure fuel pump. The one in the vapor separator is a AutoZone FF616DL and includes the filter and the O rings only about 5 dollars. Most likely they will have to order it, but they should be able to get it the same or next day.

Some were actually sealed, and you could ruin a part you can no longer get so be careful doing that.

The trucks with twin tanks take a different one that is also the tank switching valve.

Do you guys know of any small steel line’s that just clip in place of the accumulator so I could just get rid of it? I’ve always been told it really doesn’t serve a purpose.

I went ahead and ordered the new filter FF616DL from AZ along with the new one in between the frame rail fuel pump and the FPR. But if anyone knows of any steel lines that they sell online that are just long enough to go in place if the accumulator, let me know. If I don’t need this accumulator then I’m just going to delete it. Thank you all!

ive understood it to help prime and keep the high pressure pump fed. I’ve only heard of deleting it when also deleting the frame inline pump and using the later ranger model high pressure in-tank pump
