It’s been a spell, life, vacations, kids,… but I finally got the first part of the Ranger in Raptor. I’m pretty damn stoked at the outcome so far. Got the grill inserts done and recovered an aluminum tail panel that had some awful black paint on it. Probably won’t even use it but it’s an option.
Gunmetal Gray for the first part of the two tone. I’ll mask it off and add my stripes and aim to finish the job Sunday morning. I can’t stress how easy this product is to spray. 2 turns with the Vari nozzle gun and 75 PSI. Love the texture.

Holy crap it’s done!! 7 bottles of black and 2 bottles of grey later! Black sure doesn’t seem to go as far as the color??
Anyways, only a couple bleed through spots because no tape truly wants to stick to this stuff, but I am incredibly stoked and happy about my first ever Raptor/paint job. I’ll let it cure for a week and then I’ll start putting this truck back together. Got the headache rack and door jambs done too. Not gonna lie it was the most satisfying thing pulling off all that masking tape and paper/plastic. 😃

My credo
Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
That, is simply bad ass.

You have every right to be stoked and happy; great job!

That's the nicest paint job I've seen in a while.

Thanks fellas! It really feels good to get that done. Now it’s all assembly time with new parts that have been sitting since I started!

Only did one thing on the Ranger today. Installed the ford logo on the grille. Then spent the afternoon installing eBay headlights and first gen seats in my niece’s 90 Ranger. She wanted a 60/40 so she could pack more girlfriends in there with her. Her buckets were pretty bagged, but I got the console so I might modify that to work in my truck. 👍🏻
Interesting note, if I had a 90 Ranger parts truck I wouldn’t have had to spend a day making seat brackets that work. These seat bolted right in and have the same floor as the 87. So her seat slider system was used.

Well, the kid and I burned some midnight oil and started the process of putting the truck back together. Box is on and aligned. Track system and headache rack installed. Mirrors, wheels, hood, ditch lights, window weather strip and rain guards,… and probably a few other little things. Loving the look and stance. Gonna need some wheel flares.

Here is the preliminary console work. I have two of these so I decided to try and modify one so the arm rest was in a more favourable spot. The full length version clashes for real estate with my shifter plate I made. This gives me the best of both worlds. I’ll clean up the Frankenstein patchwork and make it black to match.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
your not allowed to put wheel flares on.....

unless they are gorilla war flares.

Nice work on the console and the floor plate for the shifters. The Captain America shields in the cup holders are a nice touch.

That wasn't me. I don't have a Raptor.
