1987 manual 4x4 ranger 2.9 liter

new to fords and the forum doing some differential work as it started to leak now noticing that one of the steel hoses connected to the top of the differential is leaking where it connects. can i JB weld it or somthing? or do i need to replace it tried taking a wrech to it to tighten it but it felt like it was gonna break if i turned any harder. anyway thanks!

Steel hoses? Are you talking about the brake lines?

A picture is worth a thousand words at this point... and FYI... JB Weld is rarely a good fix.

Uncle Gump is 100 % right...
If it's the steel line like one pictured, it's a brake line....do not "fix"....needs to be replaced.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
and while you are under there, follow the rubber hose from the top center up to bracket where it connects with the hard line. the hard line rusts off at that connector.

And if the hose is old, replace it, too. They have a tendency to swell up on the inside and lock up the brakes. Might as well do the two front hoses also. Its inexpensive prevention on a safety system.
