I haven’t done anything besides remove the 2150. The 2100 fits but the setup looks different. The hoses and all.
You can't just pull the carb off and put another regular one on. Like was mentioned, the original carb was a feedback carb. What this means is it had a fuel solenoid, a throttle position sensor, and a idle control motor that was all controlled by a computer, just like a fuel injection computer. The computer also controls the timing in the distributor. There are no mechanical advance weights and no vacuum advance on the original distributor.
So if you start changing things, the computer gets lost and can go into limp mode. Your timing will be locked at 10 degrees BTDC. You can do swap, and the engine will run much better, and you can get rid of most of those hoses and wires and all that stuff mounted on the pass inner fender. BUT, you need to get a older type distributor from a mustang II or pinto from the late 70's with the 2.8 v6. Once you get the distributor, you will also need to get a ignition module, either a original type duraspark II module, or a GM HEI module. I used the GM HEI module, it was cheaper, and I could use the original square coil.
Your engine will run much better after you do all this swap, mine does.
