Good evening,
First post on this forum. I have a 1984 Ranger. 2.3 4 cyl and a 17gal fuel tank. I need a fuel tank sending unit. It appears that this part # 47 F9275 EB is no longer available. Looking for a suitable substitute to replace with. I can't be the only guy looking for this unicorn. All help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi I am not sure how much help I can be, But first off, welcome to the ranger station....

When I did my 83 build I placed in new under box tank, and if i remember correctly had to use a 85 style tank as they don't stock the earlier ones any more. if memory is correct the filler/plumbing system came from www.lmctrucks.com . it has been a few years since the build.

one thing that i didn't do proper was the ohms for the fill gauge and it reads at 1/2 tank when it is full.

I am sure someone else can give more better information. cheers

Yes, welcome to TRS :)

Some info on Ford Fuel gauge sending units here: https://www.fordification.com/tech/fuel-sending-units.htm

You will see your pre-1989 sender(and gauge) uses different OHMs than 1989 and up so not interchangeable
73 ohms Empty
10 ohms Full

You can get 3rd party units like these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/253063320216

Most of these are made to use on tanks that did NOT have electric fuel pumps, fuel pump was mechanical and on the engine

So depending on you needs you can do some fabricating
