I inherited a 84 v6 ford ranger from my grandpa after he passed and been trying to get it up and running, issue is it sat for 17ish years so it leaves lots of love and then some.
If this is not the right forum please move it to the correct one didn't know witch to post it in.

So far new gas tank, sending unit, and radiator, got the tail gate all doors and locks working.

Questions:
1. Any one have a colored wiring diagram for under the hood i am not very bright and the color will help me know what wire goes were and if any are missing?
2. Are these the right size rims and tires for the truck? every thing I read said 15 are standard but these are 14s (pictures)
3. I Am missing a tube for air flow but cant find any square ones only round solutions its the one in the picture named fef circled in red.
4. What are the numbers on the blue block in the picture named image0228 its on the block?

Welcome to the club. Im almost certain that 14 inch tires are standard for that year, although you can put 15 inch on it also. I'm pretty sure you're going to have a difficult time finding color wiring diagrams, although its possible. You can go online or most auto repair stores and get a manual for your truck. Going to auto zone or O'Reilly auto has the advantage of checking the manuals they sell to see if it has diagrams in color. You need to be more specific about the missing air tube. If the numbers on the block are Stamped in, they are to identify what engine it is, and it will tell you if its the factory installed engine. Don't worry too much about not knowing what you're doing, we all started out that way. All you need is the will to learn, thats what makes someone a good mechanic in the end. Remember, the only stupid question, is the one you don't ask. I hope this helps a little, and I also hope you don't get discouraged working on your truck.

My 84 came with 14" rims. Check the tag on the drivers side door to see what size rims came with your truck. Those numbers are the firing order for the V6.

I poop in the furnace.
You really can just take all that intake duct work off and run and open style air filter. It was a pretty standard thing to do back in the day. You won't have the pre-heat system but I have a feeling that is not really a needed accessory in Florida, and the air won't come in as cold but carburetors don't care about that as much as fuel injection does.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
I wouldn't take the air intake off, I'd make sure it pulls air from the area behind the lights instead of hot underhood air. You should try to find an EVTM for the truck, that's Electrical/Vacuum/Troubleshooting/Manual. It will break the wiring down by circuit and will show wire colors: BK is black, PK is pink, etc. If it sat 17 years please replace the tires before driving it much, they're grenades with the pin pulled now.

If you're interested in buying the manual, Ebay has the Electrical/Vacuum repair manual available, and its not too expensive.

Get on ebay and look for an EVTM. They are a godsend for everything electrical/vacuum. Should be around $20.

I tried taking the intake tube off my 2.8 and it ran horrible. It now lives on with my 5.0 (but with a friend so I have two)

If you can't find anything else for the intake, might be able to convert to round tubing. For that matter what shape is the other end of the piece you attached at the grill?

Edit: THIS looks similar. Wonder if they'd measure one for you?
