Hello everyone! I’m planning on ripping my old 2.8l v6 out of my 84 ranger and replacing it with a crate Engine (2.8l v6 exact same engine) the one I have now is very worn and it’s time for a new one. Just wanted a few tips any of you guys had on doing this. The tranny bolts look like there pretty hard get to. I’ll take any advice on the whole project if you have any. Thanks for all the help

Take pictures, lots of pictures to make sure you get the miles and miles of feedback vaccuum hoses put back properly.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
Search online and buy a Ford Shop manual for the truck. Don't buy a Jasper engine. I find it best to motor wash vehicles before the teardown to reduce the grime and speed up cleaning once it's apart. Take your time, it's better to do it slow than do it twice. Good luck.

I was thinking about a shop manual. What will it provide for me?

The procedures in the manual will be helpful, the torque specs are critical.

Trans bolts are a bit difficult but lots of extensions on hand make it a tolerable job.
Actually the transmission jack is where I had trouble with the angled bottom slipping. (5 speed)
