1984 Ford Ranger 3.0L V6 swap?

A co worker and friend told me he is selling his ranger. Its a early 2000s and its a RWD 3.0L 5-Speed manual.

Id like to do the swap if I can get everything to work. Id also like to convert it to carbuation. Im just hate EFI with a passion. More stuff to go wrong in my opinion.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
I'd rebuild the 2.8 unless you want the challenge of doing the 3.0 swap. I've never seen a carbureted intake or a non EEC distributor for a 3.0

Its a worthless swap.

Duraspark the 2.8 and youll have more power then a stock 3.0.

But if you really wanna try....

I think I saw one on Morana's website today. But it was expensive in my opinion.

I really want to but the only thing is the cost. Since shes my daily driver and having that down time would be horrible. Plus, Its a pain to find rebuild kits and a manual on how to tear down and put back together. Like this would be the first rebuild and I really dont know which parts I should get or could keep with a good machine work.

Its going to cost you more time and money (by a long shot) trying to swap in a 3.0 then it would fixing your 2.8.

Even if you went carburated on the 3.0, youre still looking at motormounts and a different transmission (or atleast bellhousing) as the 3.0 uses different mounts/bellhousing.

You would be way further ahead rebuilding the 2.8.

I agree. It's just not an easy swap so it's just not gonna be the cheapest solution. It would honestly cost about the same and be as much work to put a 302 in it...

If your just trying to get it done and not spend alot. I side with ole rusty britches. Fix the 2.8.

My world is filled with stuff that needs to be fixed
I'm a fan of the 3.0, but I can't imagine it would be worth it. There's not a lot of performance upgrade parts available for the 3.0, and you want a carb anyway. Of the Cologne engines the 2.8 would be the one I'd want anyway, since I believe it still has mechanical lifters.
