I had problems with it stalling and not turning on when it got hot so i replaced the TFI module and the same thing is still happening. Any ideas on what it could be? Did i not put enough silicon heat sink? Did i not tighten the bolts correctly? Or is it a completley different problem?

Are you sure your carb is adjusted correctly?

Having any other symptoms?

My carbs choke doesn’t close all the way but it only dies when it gets really hot

A choke is part of it, but I'm talking about the mixture screws as well.

Bad TFI wiring, bad hall effect switch in the distributor, bad coil. When the TFI goes it usually throws random codes. It wouldn't hurt to replace the fuel filters. I think this only applies to the 2.9L, but, a bad gunked up oil pressure switch can shut down the engine when it gets hot. It can happened with the elbow expanding and breaking the connection too.

The thing to do is see if you actually have spark when it happens with a see through spark tester.

I switched my 2.8L first to points, then once it was running okay, to Duraspark II. Sizable time investment, but, makes it almost bullet proof.
