Has anyone had any success in removing the glued on chrome cladding in an undamaged manner from the 15x7" steel wheels that were used on the Ranger XLT's?
I have two sets of these wheels, one is the original set that has suffered from road salt damage to the steel spoke portion but the cladding is in excellent condition because I looked after them, the salt damage has worked it's way into behind the cladding & has caused rust & it is lifting the cladding away from the wheel.
I have a second set that has perfect steel wheels but the past owner did not look after the cladding very well, the cladding is marked & faded.
I'd like to swap the sets if possible.
I've tried heating a wheel in my oven to approx 400F but it was not enough to relax the glues used.
Anyone have another suggestion?
