12v outlet in bed

So I have a small webasto fridge and needed power. After some research I have discovered the is a harness under the bed on driver side that is for this. Ford wanted like 100 dollars for the parts to do this. I managed to get it done for about 10 bucks

It is a Fused circuit at the battery end of wire, right?

Its 20 amp fused circuit already supplied. It's on for a while after key cuts off and monitored by on board BMS. I haven't timed it out to see how long. But know it's not constant

That looks like fuse is under the truck??

Fuse needs to be as close to battery as practical to work, so there must be another fuse in engine bay fuse box or cab fuse box for that circuit, so double fused
Other wise its like this

Yes, not sure how the battery monitor system determines when to cut power, I did read you need to "reset" the BMS when you change to a new battery, as it monitors voltage/amps as battery ages, so has a memory

No that's a fuse I added on bed lights under my cover. The actual circuit is fused under hood. I was just showing the connector. It has a blank insert in it. After I installed outlet I actually cut the connector off and used yellow heat shrink butt connectors and tied it all up and loomed it for protection. I'm an electrical engineer by trade. I know where fuses go friend. Granted I graduated in a time of VCRs and cassettes haha.

The BMS monitors all power consumed by truck. It allows power to stay on the outlets in your truck after key is off. I've read if you remove the censor on the battery it will discontinue the auto start stop feature. Beware that same censor also controls amps alternator puts out. if removed alt puts out max amps 100 percent of time. Or so I've read.

When I added the LED flood lights to the back of the Yakim rack on the Loan Ranger I wired them to that plug and just used a wiring harness that had a wireless remote relay to turn the lights on and off.

I also learned that the power back there is only on for a limited time after the truck turns off. Still plenty of time that you could park and setup camp behind the truck at night.

I will try and grab some more photos. I'm gonna do some changes hopefully this weekend. I've got some left over led strip lights from work that will look way better than the tube lights I am using now. I also need to figure out how long exactly the circuit stays hot after ignition is turned off. Used for my little fridge Saturday and it worked great. Cheap easy mod that in my opinion should be on every 19+ Ranger

Ok got it all rewired and new strip lights installed. Need to put some loom and clean it up a little underneath the bed. Old 40 dollar light kit had a surface mounted cheap switch which required a relay and lights were 8 pod down each side. You get what you pay for. Or do you. Got all this for free. Salvaged off old projects from work. But installed a weatherproof switch that was 15 amp rated so removed relay and wired straight to lights. Did end up cutting factory connector off and tied it together with some heat shrink butt connectors. Started raining so will clean it up tomorrow after noon

Just through work. It's a Blue Sea waterproof outlet.
