I recently acquired the over head console from an '05 explorer from a junk yard. I am working on modifying the interior of my Ranger (99 explorer center console swap, replacing headliner and carpet, power window and lock swap, new stereo and speaker set up and eventually going to swap the back glass to the split window version), and I was wondering if the overhead console could be made to work, and how difficult it would be?
I've already removed the rear seat climate controls and replaced it with a blank piece of plastic {for now). I also discovered my stock sun visors are too wide to accommodate this console, so looking for a solution to that as well. would it be easier to remove my head liner first, since it needs to be replaced anyway? I plan to wire up the map lights, and once i do the power window and lock swap i plan to put the switches where the climate controls were, so I don't have to get door panels as well. Ive included a picture of the same model console below, for reference. i really like the look of this console, and having a place to store my sunglasses.
Any advice, tips, tricks, or words of caution would be greatly appreciated.
