03 3.0 flex 305 engine code

I have a 03 ranger 3.0 flex that has a 5th cylinder missfire. I have replaced the plugs, wires, coil pack, a cracked manifold on that side and done compression tests on each cylinder (@140). Before I had the missfire problem I had loss of power problem with a catalytic converter code. The converter code was erased and has not come back since. When I pulled the plugs on that side 4 & 5 were black (just changed them and havent run it hardly) and 6 was wet (pulled them for the compression tests). I'm hoping that it's something other than converters cause California converters for that truck are very hard to find and really expensive. Anyone have any thoughts- an injector maybe? Thanks

Sounds to me like something is making the truck run rich, causing excess fuel to be dumped into the exhaust. Since your misfire seems to be happening only on one cylinder, your guess of a bad/stuck injector seems logical to me. I'd also check to make sure your MAF is clean, as a dirty MAF can cause the ecu to overcompensate and add unnecessary fuel.
